Just like hair and makeup trials, a Tan Trial is a way to be able to see what the tan will look like and make sure we find the perfect shade to make you feel the best version of yourself.
It gives you one less thing to worry about leading up to your wedding day.
What I recommend, is trying to book your Tan Trial at least 3 weeks before your wedding to give you time to wash it off and prep your skin for your bridal tan, and give you the best results!
Or try to co-ordinate your Tan Trial 2 days before your Makeup Trial. This way will give you the closest way to visualise how you will look on your wedding day.
Even timing it with your hens day or bridal shower.

If you are a bride to be and wondering what day is recommended to get your spray tan....see below!
It is recommended that bridal spray tans are applied 2 days before your wedding day!
The reason?
Not only will it give you a more natural glowy finish but it will allow your tan the most time to fully develop. It will also give you time to be able to have at least 2 showers before putting your wedding gown on. This will dramatically reduce / stop the bronzer transferring onto your gown.
However, this is just a rough guideline, and I can always tailor your tan application to work with your schedule.

If its raining on your appointment date, wear a dressing gown or hoodie, long loose tracksuit pants or pajamas, and ugg boots to tuck your tracksuit pants into. This will help prevent water from flicking up onto your legs and affecting your tan. Avoid tight clothing, leggings or anything that might rub against your skin while your tan is developing. Unfortunately there are products on the market that wont let your tan develop to its full potential as they create a barrier on your skin. Due to this barrier your tan will fade so much quicker!
The moisturizers of these brands can also turn your tan green as they react with the bronzer in the tan. To get the best results possible please avoid using these brands for your spray tan: Aveeno, Dove, Sukin, Radox, Palmolive.

Spray tanning is a common beauty treatment, and many expecting mums wonder whether it’s still safe to maintain their glow while pregnant.
The short answer: Spray tanning is generally considered safe during pregnancy. The active ingredient used in most spray tans, DHA (dihydroxyacetone), works by reacting with the amino acids in the outer layer of the skin to create a temporary bronzed colour. Because it does not penetrate deeper into the body, it is not believed to reach the bloodstream.
Are there any precautions to take?
While spray tanning is typically safe, there are a few precautions recommended during pregnancy:Avoid inhaling the spray mist. Using nose filters, holding your breath during application, or wearing a mask can help minimize inhalation.
Choose a well-ventilated salon. Proper ventilation helps reduce airborne overspray during application. At Studio28 Tanning, the treatment area is equipped with a full-size extraction tower fitted with a three-stage filtration system designed to capture and filter overspray during the spray tanning process, helping maintain clean air within the space.
Be mindful of skin changes. Pregnancy hormones can sometimes affect how a spray tan develops, which may result in a slightly different colour than usual.
Should you check with your doctor?
If you have any concerns, it’s always best to speak with your healthcare provider before booking a treatment. They can provide advice based on your individual pregnancy and health history. Will my spray tan look the same during pregnancy?
Not always. Hormonal changes can sometimes cause skin to react differently, meaning the tan may develop lighter, darker, or slightly uneven compared to your usual result.Overall, many pregnant women continue to enjoy spray tanning throughout their pregnancy with the right precautions in place.

Appointments can be booked up to 5 months in advance through the online booking link. This allows clients to plan ahead and secure a time that suits them, particularly for important occasions such as weddings, holidays, special events, or photoshoots.
Opening the calendar several months in advance also helps ensure availability during busier periods and gives clients the flexibility to stay organised with their beauty and event planning.
As a small business run around a young family, this booking window also allows me to manage my schedule in advance while still providing consistent appointment availability for clients.
If you ever need help finding a suitable time or have a special event coming up, you’re always welcome to get in touch and I’ll do my best to assist.

Yes, it’s best to avoid high intensity exercise until after your first rinse following your spray tan.
During the development period, the tanning solution is still reacting with the outer layer of your skin to develop the final colour. Sweating can interfere with this process and may affect how evenly your tan develops.
Why should workouts be avoided?
Sweat can cause streaking or patchiness. As sweat runs over the skin, it can move the developing solution and create uneven areas.
Friction can affect the tan. Tight workout clothing or repeated movement can rub against the skin and disrupt the developing colour.
Moisture can stop proper development. Activities that cause heavy sweating may prevent the tan from fully processing on the skin.
For the best results, try to schedule workouts before your spray tan appointment and allow the recommended development time before exercising again.
Once you’ve completed your first rinse, you can usually return to your normal workout routine while following good tan aftercare to help maintain your glow.

DHA (Dihydroxyacetone) is the active ingredient in spray tanning that creates your bronzed glow. It’s a naturally derived ingredient (usually from sugar cane or beet sugar) that reacts with the amino acids in the top layer of your skin to develop a tan; no sun exposure needed!
This reaction happens over a few hours after your appointment, which is why your tan continues to deepen once you leave. The higher the DHA percentage, the deeper and darker your final result will be.
DHA only works on the outer layer of the skin, which means your tan will gradually fade as your skin naturally exfoliates, giving you a safe, streak-free, sunless glow.
Prepping for your tan.
Please consider the following before arriving for your spray tan:
Have all hair removal done the day before your tan appointment (wax or shave).
All eyebrow and lash tints/henna/dye are to be done at least 48 hours before your tan to avoid discolouration.
Have a shower and exfoliate your skin using an exfoliating glove and soap or body wash. Please avoid coffee scrubs etc as the oils in them can make your tan patchy.
Make sure to work your exfoliating glove all over your body, especially working under the armpits!! Deodorant build up can react with your tan giving you green underarms!! THIS IS IMPORTANT
If you are having your nails professionally done, is recommended to have them done before your tan.
PLEASE NO: makeup, deodorant, moisturisers, perfumes etc on your skin before your appointment. We need clean skin!
Wear loose dark clean clothing or dressing gowns to your appointment. Thongs are best for footwear. You can wear your own underwear, or I have disposable G strings on offer.
Aftercare of your tan.
Please consider the following for the aftercare of your tan:
Refrain from touching your tan while it's being processed. This is so no bronzer transfers onto the palm of your hands.
Leave your tan on as per recommended time to develop (this will be discussed at your appointment). Then rinse off in a quick, lukewarm shower, using your hands to lightly rub over the body. Please avoid using any soaps and washing your hair.
Pat dry with a towel and wear loose clean clothing. Your tan will develop fully in 12-24 hours.
Moisturise daily and continue with short lukewarm showers to prolong your tan for the longest time possible.
Please continue to wear SPF sunscreen as self tanning products do not offer sun protection.
When you are ready to remove your tan in approximately 7-10 days, use a tan remover mitt or exfoliating glove.
Don’t think you will remember the steps?
